out and about in cruden bay, aberdeenshire
Step out of the hotel and find yourself at the beach, the harbour or the imposing ruin of Slains Castle depending on which route you take...
To find our native seals pass Hardings Newsagents on your right, follow the road round past views of Cruden Bay Golf Course and turn right at the sign for the beach, hop over Ladies Bridge and your feet will hit the sand... This is where if you are up for a good 45 minute walk right to the top of the beach, you will see the seals just over the rocks.
A beautiful beach no matter the season; whether you just pop for a paddle in the sea or a stroll as far as the mood takes you, this is a place you will fall in love with.
Carry on past the sign for the beach and you are just a straight 5 minute walk away from the traditional small working harbour. If the weather is inclement (although it rarely is with Cruden Bay’s very own micro climate) then this short stroll can be a nice alternative to a walk on the beach as you have the views of all the dunes without the worry of walking on them. Look out to the sea and hear the call of sailors past...
To see pictures of the Harbour today, take a look at our gallery or better still... Come and see for yourself.
If you pass the Post Office on the left and carry on through the “woodies” you will be treated to stunning coastal views and breathtaking scenery as you make your ascent to Slains Castle. For more information on the castle visit our History section.
